John Willie Henderson

Mr. Willie Henderson, Sr. was born to the late A. J. and Georgia Hunter Henderson on May 29, 1949 in Raymond, MS. He departed from his earthly life on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 12: 57 a. m. in the comfort of his home.

Willie accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at an early age at Davis Hill M. B. Church in Raymond, MS under the leadership of Rev. E. W. Cornelius.

Willie was educated at Sumner Hill High School.  Later on in his life, he married Sarah Darby (Sarah Henderson Pace) in 1971 and they continued their life together in Los Angeles, CA.  While in Los Angeles, they started their family and became the proud parents of four children-Sarah, Willie, Jr., Kimberly, and Emily.

Willie was always a hardworking man.  In the late 1970's, he worked at Magna America in Raymond, MS.  In the 1980's, he started a career at Gulf State.  As time progressed into the new millennium, Willie began working for the First Baptist Church of Raymond, MS and this is where he retired in 2014.

Willie was always devoted to his family and community.  He was a great father, a caring brother, the coolest friend, the best uncle and an excellent grandfather.  There was never a dull moment around Willie.

Willie was preceded in death by: his parents, A. J. and Georgia Henderson; a grandson, Vizavian DeTrent Darby; three brothers, A. C. Henderson, Robert Henderson, Sr. and A. J. Henderson, Jr.; three sisters, Evangelist Georgia M. Jimerson, Beverly Breakfield and Patricia Robinson.

Willie leaves to cherish his memories: three daughters, Kimberly Henderson, Emily Henderson, and Sarah Darby of Jackson MS; three sons, John Willie Henderson, Jr. of Jackson, MS, Daniel (Tambris) Salter of Bolton, MS, and Jeffrey Hudson of Jackson, MS; seven sisters: Christine Daniels of Chicago, IL, Annette Davis Sanders of Raymond, MS, Nancy (Eddie) Jackson of Jackson, MS, Mary (Jay) Thomas of Bolton, MS, Edna Caston of Raymond, MS, Dorothy Caston of Houston, TX, and Christine Thompson of Jackson, MS; four brothers, Jerome (Peggy) Henderson of Raymond, MS, Charles Caston of Chicago, IL, Johnny Parker of Clinton, MS and Melvin (Kesher) Robinson of Jackson, MS; one brother-in-law, Buster Jimerson; one sister-in-law and dear friend, Virginia Henderson; 26 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
