Jackie Yvette Kitchens was born to Rosemary McDonald and Jack Johnson on September 20, 1977 in Jackson. A beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and sister, she passed on January 26, 2025, at the age of 47. Jackie was a beacon of love and warmth to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
She attended John Marshall High School of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Murrah Hill High School in Jackson, Mississippi.
Jackie married her husband Michael Kitchens in 2008. She had three loving children who were the light of her life.
Jackie was a hardworking woman throughout the years. She was employed by Bob Wootan for 17 years before transitioning to a career with the Jackson Public School system for 3 years. Her last employer was Austin Security where she was loved and respected.
Jackie was also a pillar in her community. In 2021, she started Better Hope and Better Dreams; a foundation dedicated to the youth and serving her community. She also went on to lead a ‘Stop the Violence’ rally. All of this while remaining an active parent both in the home and out; she even served as PTA president for sometime.
As a mother, she was cherished by her three children, Rodney (Ebonee), Katlyn, and Corday, who fondly remember her as a source of unwavering support and encouragement. Her two grandchildren, Rodney Jr. (RJ) and Aubrey Rose (Cookie) adored their "Gigi," who always had time for Mickey Mouse, delicious meals, and all of the love in her heart.
A sister to 6 dear siblings, the late Rodney McDonald, Teresa Cooke, Angela Bird, Derrick Ishman, Diane Ishman and Tiana Jones, Jackie valued family above all else.
She also shared a special friendship with Dwayne Chislom.
Her presence will be dearly missed as she leaves behind a plethora of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends, but her legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Rosemary McDonald and her brother Rodney McDonald.
