The final chapter in the life of Gregory Karl Bennett was written on the evening of October 9, 2018 at 5:00 p. m. at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC).
Greg was born on August 22, 1964 in Jackson, MS to the late Eddie and Joe Lillian Bennett. He was the eighth of nine children. He had one son, Gregory Karl Kennedy who preceded him in death. He also had a brother, Wilbert Charles Bennett and a sister, Louise Jefferson who also preceded him in death.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of the Greater Mt. Sinai M. B. Church under the late Rev. A. L. Barnes. He united with the First Hyde Park M. B. Church on January 18, 2012. He became a trustee in 2014 and served until his death.
He leaves to cherish his memories: grandsons, Ramello Kennedy-Gray and Z’Kavean Pitts, a granddaughter, Kamren Kennedy-Gray; four sisters, Dessie Harvey, Christine Burks, Patricia (Linel) Williams, and Shirley (Michael) Reed; two brothers, Eddie Bennett, Jr. and Calvin O. Bennett of Athens, GA; one aunt, Bessie Gillum; one uncle; Leon (Carolyn) Thomas of St. Louis, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends
