Charlyne Bailey was born on September 2, 1939, in Lexington, Mississippi, to C. L. "Buddy" McKay & Rosie Lee Bailey. She departed this life on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Edgewood Health and Rehabilitation in Byram, MS. She was also under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice of Clinton, MS.
Charlyne was the only child born from the union of Buddy and Rosie, although she had many half-siblings on her father's side of the family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosie; father, L.C.; and sons, Hoover Hunter, Jr., and James Lee McKay.
Charlyne lived the majority of her life in Illinois, where she was married several years to Hoover Hunter, Sr. She was employed many years and retired from the American Tobacco Company. After her health declined, she moved from her home of Maywood, Illinois, to Jackson, Mississippi, to be closer to family and resided there until her death. Charlyne's favorite color was purple. She was known to be very independent, outspoken, loved to travel, and socialize.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Delores Hunter McKinnis; three granddaughters, Stacia Hunter, Crystal McKinnis, and Courtney McKinnis (Centron) Lenoir; one grandson, Shananon (Leslie) Hunter; three great-granddaughters, Sydney, Zola, and Zaria; and two great-grandsons, Zachary and Logan. She also leaves to mourn, a host of loved ones, including relatives, friends, and close acquaintances.
